superpowers

If you were a superhero, what would be your hidden superpower?

This is a "no brain-er" for me. My hidden superpower would be healing. I would heal all the physical and emotional hurts of everyone I love. And then the world. But my loved ones first.

My husband is scheduled for an out patient procedure today at the pain management doctor's office. Some shots in his neck and back to hopefully relieve some of his chronic pain. We have done these types of shots before with little success, but it's been a while, so we are trying again. Oh, how I wish I could magically remove his pain! To wipe out the last 20 years of doctors and surgeries and procedures that have caused only more pain. To eliminate the need for pills and shots and all the things that drag him down! That would be an amazing thing!

Do me a favor, say a prayer for my sweet hubby today. Pray that this procedure will help him. Pray for his body to be pain free. He is an incredible man. He doesn't see all that he is, how courageous and strong he really is. He can't see the man I love through the pain. Pray for him to see himself as I see him.

Prayer is our real superpower. I don't always understand it. Sometimes it seems that my prayers aren't being answered. But I know my Father hears the cries of my heart and that He is moved by them. The creator of all worlds listens to the smallest heartfelt cry of His children and answers. Maybe not in the way we want or think we need, but He always answers. Reaching the heart of God, if that isn't a superpower, then I don't know what is.

Sunday thoughts and pictures

So, it's Sunday. I'm sitting here trying to figure out what to say. It's been a pretty lousy weekend and I am not feeling very inspired. I even skipped out on church today, which does nothing to improve my feelings of self worth. Have you figured out that I am fighting off a round of depression?

It's not all bad though. The hubby and I had to make a run to the store and out to my mom's place and I took along my camera. Got a few shots that I am kind of proud of. Wanna see??

Okay, that's it. So, I guess this post is more pictures and less thoughts. Sorry. Maybe tomorrow will be better. Until then my friends!

Are we there yet?

It's been a really bad day. The kind of day that feels overwhelming and never ending. Assuming that God is in the driver's seat and I am strapped into a kiddie car seat in the back, my only recurring thought is:
"Are we there yet????"

I know I am being a whiny child, impatiently looking for answers to questions I don't even truly understand yet. Why can't I understand? Why won't He give me understanding? Why does life have be so hard??

I am a middle aged woman, shouldn't I have at least some of this stuff figured out?

But I don't. And right at this very moment understanding seem a lifetime away. So, like a child, I am clinging to my Father's hand. I am trusting in the only thing I can, He loves me.

Tomorrow will be better.

It's FRIDAY!!

How do you find the energy to write when you're not in the mood?

Well, I guess the answer to that question is I DON'T. I post funny pictures and great quotes and call it a day!

And now I am off to enjoy my Friday! ;-)

blogging tasks

What blogging task takes up a lot of your energy?

My answer, making sure I don't sound stupid. Honestly. I will write something and the words will just flow from my fingers. I feel blessed and joy filled. Then I finish and proceed to read and reread my words, picking them apart and worrying myself silly! Why?

Blogging is fun, at least until my insecurity demons get in the way. Then it really does become a task. I need to find the balance between proof reading and obsessing.

Does anyone else struggle like this? Or is it just my crazy issue?

Oh, I did get my Castle review done this morning and it's up on the sight. Here is a link if you are interested: Click HERE!

And don't forget it's Thursday, which means a thankfulness post is here.

And finally I will leave you with this really funny picture a friend tagged me in on Facebook this morning.

Is she trying to tell me something?? ;)

Blah!

Talk about a time when you used up an extraordinary amount of energy and were exhausted.....

BLAH!!! I really don't like this prompt! Probably because right now I am feeling exhausted just thinking about it. So, I think we will skip the prompt today. Sorry NaBloPoMo, I'm just not feeling it!

So, now what? hmm........

I got nothing. Well, that's not completely true. I have the fact that I need to be working on my fanbolt.com post. I write the weekly review/recap for the show "Castle", and I am supposed to have it done already. I haven't started. And I feel a little overwhelmed by that.

I started writing the reviews on a whim (as I do most writing projects). I saw a Twitter post looking for people to write reviews for their favorite shows and I jumped at it as a way to stretch my writing skills and talk about a show I enjoy. And I do enjoy writing the reviews. But the deadline (which is supposed to be 24 hours after the episode airs) makes things very stressful. "Castle" comes on at 9pm on Monday night, right when I should be headed for bed. So, if I watch it, I am up late. If I wait until the next morning then I am sacrificing writing time. Tuesday evening the TV is on and I can't focus. And through it all I am stressing over the deadline.

Well, not this week. This week I am going to take my time. And not stress about the deadline. The one that is imposed by a website I volunteer for. What's the worst that can happen? I suppose they could kick me out...I think I'm okay with that at this point. Because I need to stop stressing about this, it needs to be fun.

I need to faithful to myself in this area. Faithful to the enjoyment of writing. Faithful to the need to stretch my writing skills. And faithful to the need not to stress. Funny, when I picked my word I never envisioned applying it in quite this way! Sometimes I wonder at the thoughts God puts in my head! It's amazing to me how He can shift my focus without my even realizing where He is leading me.

And now I better go, so I can work on that post a little before work. I'll let you know how it goes! :)

just because we all need a smile!

NaBloPoMo asks about dreaming

NaBloPoMo writing prompt for today:
If you could be given the option to never sleep and also never be tired, would you take it if it meant you'd also never dream again?

Why does everyone keep asking me about dreams????

Okay, I know we aren't talking about my dreams for the future here, but still. It seems that every time I turn around I am reading something about dreams. Yes, I know. Someone is trying to get my attention on the subject. But frankly it scares me. I'm not ready yet. I actually have a draft of a dream post. Which is to say I have a title and a blank screen where the text goes. But it's a start, right??

Anyway, let's answer the question above for now and worry about my future dreams later (I promise, I will work on that post). If I could give up sleep and never be tired, would I do it and lose the ability to dream? Well, I think the answer is no. First of all, give up sleep?? It's my favorite past time! :)

Seriously though, no I wouldn't. I think sleep and dreaming are essential parts of what is is to be human. Think about the incredible things your brain comes up with when you leave it alone to do it's thing. Some are scarey, some are crazy, some are sad. Some are silly and happy, & some you can't even remember. But all are original and uniquely yours. Why would I give that up?

This week's writing prompt for GBE2 is "Oh No, Not Again" and I think it ties in well, since that was my first thought when I read the dreaming question. Dreams just keep coming up, and I know that God is telling me it's time to deal with them. And writing about them will help me to clarify what it is I am so afraid of. Why does just thinking about the future make me reach for my anxiety meds? I will write that post, I will work it through and face my fears. Just not this morning! :)
